Health & Psychiatry is a Florida-based practice. Our virtual appointments are delivered by the same licensed providers who see patients at our clinics.

Care is led by Dinar Sajan, MD, our Chief Medical Officer, who brings more than 20 years of experience in adult and integrative psychiatry. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and earned a Fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry in 2024. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and has contributed to regional and national media conversations on mental health.

Online Psychiatric Evaluations in Florida

An initial psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment, not a screening call. Your provider reviews your history, current symptoms, past treatment, medications, and what you are hoping to change. It runs longer than a follow-up appointment.

You will discuss what the assessment suggests, what treatment options exist, and what is realistic to expect from each.

Medication Management Through Telepsychiatry

Our online psychiatrist can prescribe medications during telepsychiatry appointments just as they would during in-person visits. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy.

Follow-up appointments monitor how you are responding, adjust dosing and manage side effects, which is most of what medication management involves and works well by video.

Do You Need to Be Located in Florida?

Yes. Your provider must be licensed in the state where you are physically located during your appointment, because that is where your care is considered to take place.

You can be at home, at work, or anywhere else, as long as you are in Florida when the appointment begins. If you are travelling out of state, tell us beforehand so we can reschedule.

What Do You Need for a Virtual Psychiatry Appointment?

You only need basics that most people already have: a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, plus a reliable internet connection. No special software downloads or technical expertise is required.

It also helps to have ready:

• A private space where you can speak freely
• Your current medication list, including dose and how long you have taken each
• Your preferred pharmacy, so prescriptions route correctly
• Your insurance card, for benefits verification before the visit

Telepsychiatry vs. In-Person Psychiatric Care

Telepsychiatry is appropriate for most patients and mental health conditions. Our online psychiatric services provide the same level of clinical expertise and personalized attention as in-person appointments, and many patients find that virtual care improves consistency, comfort, and accessibility.

The practical differences are worth knowing. Virtual appointments remove travel, waiting rooms and time off work, and many patients speak more openly from their own space. In-person appointments allow physical assessment, formal testing, and lab monitoring, and are better suited to acute presentations.

We offer both, and you are not locked into either. Many of our patients begin online and come into a clinic when their care calls for it.

When In-Person or Urgent Care May Be Needed

While telehealth serves most patient needs effectively, some situations require in-person evaluation: acute or severe symptoms, formal testing, certain medication decisions requiring physical assessment, or laboratory monitoring.

This is where our practice differs. If your virtual appointment suggests you need more, we can arrange an in-person evaluation at our clinic.
